Randy
McGovern
Randy McGovern is considered
by many to be a gifted artist, but he is also considered one of
the best realists in the country. He is a perfectionist to the
degree that his paintings seem to run, crawl, bound, soar and
swim off the canvas. He says of himself, "I feel compelled
to count feathers or scales and feel the fur of wolves before I
paint them. The perfectionist in me sleeps a little better -
even if the extra detail goes unnoticed."
Born and raised in the Crescent
City (New Orleans) Randy developed an appreciation for art and
nature at a young age. Between winning city-wide art contests in
grade school and traipsing through the swamps to capture snakes
to sell to snake farms, he grew in thankfulness for his talent
and his respect for the natural world.
Needless to say Randy has won
many awards, honors, and accolades. Among them he was the
Louisiana Duck Unlimited Artist of the Year, 1984; he's been
featured on the nationally televised 700 Club; and he was the
1997 National Quail Unlimited Artist of the Year, just to name a
few.
